Our whole pitch is being independent and trustworthy, so we keep data collection minimal and explain it plainly.

1. Who this applies to
This policy describes how AttendingFi ("we," "us") handles information when you use attendingfi.com. The service is operated by AttendingFi Holdings LLC. Contact: our contact page.
2. The short version
- The calculator runs in your browser. The numbers you enter stay on your device unless you choose to save a plan.
- If you upload your StudentAid.gov data file, it is read entirely in your browser and never sent to us, our analytics, or anyone else — and it is not stored.
- If you create an account, we collect only your email address and the plan inputs you choose to save.
- We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate usage.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- You can ask us to delete your data anytime.
3. Information we collect
Information you provide. The loan and financial details you enter into the calculator (balance, rate, income, family size, employer type, etc.). These are processed to generate your results. They are stored locally in your browser so you can return to your plan. If you create an account, the inputs and results you choose to save are stored in our database (via our authentication/database provider, Supabase) and associated with your account.
Uploaded files (processed only in your browser). Some tools let you optionally upload your StudentAid.gov “MyStudentData.txt” file to diagnose your loans. This file is parsed entirely on your own device using your browser's built-in file reader. It is never transmitted to AttendingFi, our servers, our analytics provider, or any third party, and it is not saved anywhere — when you close or refresh the page, it is gone. Only anonymous, aggregate signals (for example, how many loans were detected) may be recorded in analytics; no balances, account numbers, names, or the file itself ever leave your browser.
Account information. If you sign up, your email address. We use passwordless sign-in (a one-time code emailed to you), so we do not store a password.
Automatically collected information. Like most websites, we and our analytics provider collect standard technical data such as IP address, browser/device type, pages visited, and interactions, using cookies and similar technologies. We use this in aggregate to improve the tool.
We do not intentionally collect sensitive identifiers such as Social Security numbers, and we ask you not to enter them.
4. How we use information
- To run the calculator and generate your results.
- To save and show your plan(s) if you create an account.
- To email you your results and occasional relevant updates (you can unsubscribe anytime).
- To understand aggregate usage and improve the product.
- To protect the service against abuse and to comply with law.
5. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers who help us run AttendingFi, under their terms:
- Google Analytics (GA4), aggregate usage analytics.
- Supabase, authentication and storage of saved accounts/plans.
- Email delivery provider, to send your sign-in codes and results.
If you click through to a partner lender, that lender collects information under its own privacy policy; we don't transmit your saved plan to them. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights and safety.
6. Cookies & analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies for analytics (Google Analytics) and to keep you signed in. You can control cookies through your browser settings. If you block cookies, sign-in and some features may not work. You can opt out of Google Analytics using Google's opt-out browser add-on.
7. Your choices & rights
You can:
- Access or delete your account and saved plans, from within your dashboard, or through our contact page.
- Unsubscribe from emails via the link in any email or by contacting us.
- Clear local data by clearing your browser storage.
Depending on where you live (for example, California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to know what personal information we hold, to request deletion, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We honor these requests for all users regardless of location. To make a request, use our contact page. We do not sell or "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
8. Data retention & security
We keep account data while your account is active and delete it on request. We use reasonable technical measures (including row-level access controls so each user can access only their own data, and encrypted connections) to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. AttendingFi is intended for adults (18+) and is not directed to children under 13; we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

We may update this policy; the "last updated" date above reflects the latest version. Material changes will be posted here.
